Eventful June for EMPHASIS: 2nd Progress Meeting and Joint MetSuperCap-EMPHASIS Workshop

From June 11-12, 2024, the EMPHASIS consortium convened for its 2nd Progress Meeting at INRIM, Torino. This pivotal two-day gathering assessed progress across various work packages, preparations for the 1st Periodic Report, and included a Social Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Workshop and a Joint MetSuperCap-EMPHASIS Workshop.

Day 1 focused on the EMPHASIS Progress Meeting, featuring updates on project management and scientific coordination. Presentations detailed advancements in SC electrode development, novel carbon materials, eco-friendly electrolytes, and innovative applications in smart clothing and electromobility. Highlighting the day was the Social LCA Workshop by WOOD, underscoring sustainable innovation through validation and benchmarking, prompting stimulating discussions.

Day 2 highlighted the Joint MetSuperCap-EMPHASIS Workshop at INRIM's historic palace. MetSuperCap is a project coordinated by our partner INRIM, financed by European Partnership on Metrology, co-financed by the European Union Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme and from the Participating States. During the workshop there were fourteen pitch talks which showed the supercapacitor technology, testing and applications, ranging from e-mobility to textiles. With 63 attendees, including industry experts and academics, vibrant interactions and networking characterized the event. A visit to CRF laboratories in the afternoon offered practical insights and fostered collaboration.

The event's dynamic atmosphere, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities significantly advanced the EMPHASIS project's objectives.
