The New-Aquitaine Composites & Advanced Materials Technology Center

CANOE is a R&T center which is focused onto polymer and carbon material formulation, fiber spinning and composite manufacturing process, characterization and non-destructive testing. CANOE is equipped with pilot line capabilities (TRL 3-6) for the development of fiber (cellulose, carbon…), non-woven and fiber-reinforced composite parts. CANOE provides R&T service, especially to SME (feasibility study, prototyping, pre-series, technology transfer, scale-up demonstration, testing…) in the field of transport (aeronautics, automotive…), energy storage (battery composite pack, carbon-based electrode for battery and supercapacitor, hydrogen pressure composite vessel) and medical device.

Role within EMPHASIS

As leader of WP2 “Development of novel functional carbon materials from wet-spun cellulose fibers”, CANOE will contribute to EMPHASIS on the development of new materials for next-generation supercapacitors. More particularly, CANOE will develop some innovative bio-based carbon fiber precursors and will focus onto their manufacturing into carbon materials for supercapacitor components.
