EMPHASIS at the Innovation & Networking Days on Supercapacitors
The Innovation & Networking Days on Supercapacitors, held at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry representatives for two days of insightful discussions, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration. The EMPHASIS project was prominently featured throughout the event, with key contributions from our partners in expert panels, technical sessions, and networking opportunities. Discussions spanned advanced materials, sustainability, and the future of supercapacitor technology, emphasising the importance of cooperation in driving innovation forward.
Highlights included:
- Keynote address: Tina Züchner (European Commission, DG RTD) provided valuable insights on the EU’s strategic vision for energy storage innovation.
- EMPHASIS representation in expert sessions on advanced materials and sustainability, with contributions from Dr. Guinevere Giffin (Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg), Tobias Burton (Solvionic), and Hanna Sofia Leiter (Wood K plus - Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH).
- Sustainability session – Economic and Environmental Sustainability Criteria for Future Applications/Markets: Chaired by Dr. Mauro Francesco Sgroi (University of Torino), this session explored critical factors shaping the sustainable adoption of supercapacitor technology.
- Project Coordinator Nasos Masouras (Pleione Energy) presenting EMPHASIS in the Science Session, introducing the Horizon Europe-funded initiative to a broader audience.
- A dynamic panel discussion on the present and future of supercapacitors, featuring Michael Schneider (BORN GmbH) alongside industry leaders.
The event, co-organized by EMPHASIS alongside sister projects HEDAsupercap, GREENCAP, and The MUSIC Project, reinforced the importance of a strong European innovation ecosystem. With a shared vision of advancing energy storage technologies, EMPHASIS continues to drive impactful research and industry collaboration.
We look forward to building on these discussions and advancing supercapacitor technology for a more sustainable future!
