Social LCA insights on bio-based supercapacitors at REV2025

REV2025 brought the community together to discuss environmental, economic, technological and social resource efficiency across vehicle systems. Held from 23–25 September 2025 in Graz, Austria, the vehicle-centred event provided a forum to exchange approaches that support circular and decarbonised transport solutions.

At the conference, Hanna Sofia Leiter delivered the talk “Guiding the research on bio-based supercapacitors towards a socially viable value chain development” within the session “Societal perspective in decarbonised transport solutions.” Her presentation included selected Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) results for the project’s bio-based supercapacitor. This perspective supports EMPHASIS objectives to explore sustainable, socially viable pathways for supercapacitor value chains and to connect materials research with societal outcomes relevant to future transport applications.

By embedding value-chain insights early, S-LCA contributes to responsible choices on materials, processes and supply relationships that align with broader resource-efficiency goals.
